Welcome to our repair guide. Today, we're working with a old Servis washing machine, model number M6856W, which we'll be dismantling for parts as it is uneconomic to repair for the age of the machine.

Before proceeding with the dismantling, we encountered a common issue with older washing machines – a broken door handle, preventing access to the inside. To solve this, we used a hook screwdriver. This tool, shaped like a screwdriver but with a pointed, curved tip, is perfect for dealing with this issue. Insert the hook under the door handle, then turn it 45 degrees. The door will open easily, bypassing the need for a functioning handle.
While looking for replacement parts online, we found comprehensive workshop manuals for this machine. These guides, provided in multiple languages, offer invaluable information, including wiring diagrams and detailed instructions for replacing various components.
One of the manuals provides a breakdown of the door assembly, showing all the parts and how they fit together. This includes the door handle, the door catch assembly, the pecker, the pin, and the spring. Additionally, it provides information on the door interlock system, motor, and other components.
The other manual is more technical, focusing on diagnostic procedures and test processes. It includes information on the color configuration of the wires, where they connect to the circuit board, and detailed information on each component.
For example, it gives a comprehensive rundown of the door safety catch system. It even includes the pin configuration of the motor. The manual also walks you through the diagnostic mode and test procedures, making it easier to identify and resolve issues.
We believe that manufacturers should provide such detailed manuals to assist in the repair and maintenance of their machines. Having such information readily available can make the repair process significantly smoother.
It is getting very hard to find new parts available for this model. This is why I salvaged the good motor out of this machine and also the PCB.
