How to Replace the Door Catch and Hinge on a Beko WMB-Series Washing Machine?

In this guide, we will teach you how to replace the door catch and hinge on a WMB-series Beko washing machine. These parts can wear out over time or become damaged, especially if the door is forced open before the end of the program cycle.

We tried to be concise and give brief information on this guide, so we would recommend you watch our video since we're showing you how easily you can change your Beko washing machine's door.

Additionally, you can visit our web store to buy genuine spare parts: https://shop.how-to-repair.com/collections/washing-machine-parts

Before we start, ensure that the appliance is unplugged from the electricity supply for safety. You'll also need a thin screwdriver for this process.

Removing the Beko Washing Machine Door

  1. Start by peeling back the door seal to reveal the retaining plate that holds the door hinge in place. Be careful not to let this fall inside the machine.
  2. Locate the two screws on the hinge. You can remove one of these without worrying about the plate falling, but when removing the second screw, keep your hand behind the plate to hold it in place.
  3. Once both screws are removed, lift the door up from the hinge and set it aside.

Dismantling the Beko Washing Machine Door

  1. Remove all the screws from the perimeter of the door using your thin screwdriver.
  2. Once all screws are removed, you should be able to remove the plastic frame of the door.
  3. Note that there is a location lug on the glass that needs to align with the machine. Also, the hinge fits into the plastic frame of the door.
  4. Remove the glass and set it aside.
  5. Next, you'll see the plastic handle, which is a common failure point, and the spring.
  6. Remove the pin that holds these in place. If the pin is corroded, clean it with a bit of fine sandpaper to ensure it can slide back in easily.

Reassembling the Door

  1. Start by placing the catch assembly back into the door. Ensure that the catch is facing outwards.
  2. Now, reinsert the pin through the spring and catch assembly. Make sure it goes through all the necessary parts and pushes all the way in until it hits the retaining piece that prevents it from falling out.
  3. When putting the glass back in, remember to align the grooves on the glass with the ones on the door. The thin side of the glass should be at the top. This design ensures that during a wash cycle, clothes that hit the front of the glass slide down and go back into the drum.
  4. Reassemble the plastic frame and secure it with the screws.
  5. Finally, reattach the door to the machine, ensuring the hinge plate is correctly positioned.

Please remember that the whole video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.
