LG F1256QD Washing Machine Keeps Turning Off & Loosing Power
We have LG F1256QD washing machine and it fills first time around, then drains and as it’s about to fill again, it comes up PF. We follow the instructions and turn it back on and on the next drain, it stops as it’s about to fill again. We have checked the wiring as per suggestions and are unable to see anything on the PCB that looks out of place/broken/burnt. We have run the test mode and it’s showing all fine. Do you have any suggestions as to what you think this may be? Thanks

I will try and help with this problem about LG F1256QD Washing Machine,
Hi David,
Sorry to hear about the issue with your LG washing machine. The 'PF' code stands for Power Failure, meaning the power was interrupted. Here are a few ways to identify and possibly fix the problem.
Power failure can be due to a broken wire or an intermittent fault in a wire. It might also be the electronic filter in the back right-hand side of the machine, after you remove the lid. Another possibility is a bad connection on one of the circuit boards. Sometimes, a component or circuit board track might have a loose connection. Unfortunately, LG washing machine boards are often covered in silicon, making it hard to find the exact problem.
To test this, first connect your multimeter permanently to the power going into the machine at the back right-hand side where it connects to the electronic filter or suppressor. Let the machine run through its cycle while watching the voltage. If you see the voltage drop, you might have a loose connection or bad power supply.
Next, connect your multimeter to the two wires coming out of the suppressor or electronic filter going to the circuit board. Repeat the test. If it fails here, you might have a faulty electronic filter breaking down under load. If there's constant power supply going to the circuit board, it indicates an issue with the circuit board itself. This could be due to metal fatigue inside a wire or a problem on the circuit board.
Inspect all tracks and components for any dry joints or loose connections using a magnifying glass. Remember, since the circuit board is covered in silicon, identifying problems is challenging.
You might find a second-hand circuit board on eBay, Gumtree, Facebook, etc., using your full model number. Look for machines with motor faults or bearing issues that you can use for parts. These machines are usually affordable, around £20-30.
If you need a new circuit board, use your full model number in online searches. You mentioned only part of your model number; there are about six variations of this model.
I've included a workshop manual and video on intermittent electrical faults with washing machines that might help you. There's also a playlist on our YouTube channel about LG faults. LG machines are generally reliable but intermittent faults can be tricky.
