Troubleshooting and Fixing E21 Error on Hoover Candy Maid Washer Dryers

Welcome to our guide on diagnosing and fixing the E21 error on Hoover Candy Maid washer dryers. This error may also occur on other related brands. The E21 error code indicates a fault with the NTC sensor or one of the wires connected to it. In this guide, we'll walk you through the diagnosis and repair process.

We tried to be concise and give brief information on this guide, so we would recommend you watch our video since we're showing you how easily you can clear the error codes from Hoover Candy washer dryers and washing machines.

Identifying the Error Code

On the left-hand side of your machine, you'll notice flashing lights. Between the flashes, you'll see 11 flashes, which indicate the E21 error code. If you have an LCD model, the error code 11 will be displayed on the screen.

Before starting the repair, disconnect the machine from the power supply. You'll need to remove the lid of the machine by taking out the three bolts at the back. These bolts are usually 7 millimeters and can also be screws, depending on your machine's model. To remove the lid, pull it back and lift it slightly.

By watching our video, you can learn more about the Hoover washer dryer & washing machine error codes.

Examining & Testing the NTC Sensor

On the front of the Hoover washer dryer, you'll see two thermostats and a sensor, which is the NTC sensor. On this particular model, one of the wires connected to the NTC sensor is broken, a common issue on these machines. The issue is often caused by metal fatigue or a brittle wire.

Before repairing the wire, it's important to test the NTC sensor to ensure it's working correctly. The NTC sensor or thermistor should have a resistance value of about 5,000 at a room temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. As the sensor heats, the resistance value will decrease. Once the sensor cools back to room temperature, the resistance value will increase back to about 5,400. This indicates that the NTC sensor is functioning correctly. However, without the manufacturer's exact tolerance levels, it's impossible to be precise.

Repairing the Wire

The broken wire was the cause of the E21 error code on the machine in the video. Instead of merely attaching a new Spade terminal to the wire, we will cut the wire back and replace the whole piece. This is to prevent the fault from recurring due to metal fatigue or a brittle wire.

You can begin by cutting the wiring back to the control panel. Then, solder a new piece of wire onto the old one. After soldering, cover the solder joint with heat-shrink tubing to insulate it.

Once the solder joint is insulated, connect the wires to the NTC sensor. To prevent the wires from pulling on the solder joint, secure them with a cable tie. The wires should be longer by about three or four centimeters than the manufacturer's original wires to allow for weak shock absorbers or imbalanced loads.

After replacing the wire, it's time to test the machine. Plug it back in and check if the E21 error code still appears. If everything was done correctly, you will no longer face with the error code, and the machine should work as expected.

Please remember that the whole video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.
