Samsung WW90T534DAN Washing Machine Makes Loud Noise During the Final Spin

August 29, 2026
Customer Question

Samsung WW90T534DAN Washing Machine is just over 2 years old (so we really don't want to have to get a new one). We had to replace the door about 3 months ago when the glass cracked. Around that time the noise started from the machine, I think this is a coincidence as I don't see how a new door (same model) would cause this type of noise but I'll mention it anyway. It happens on every cycle at the end for 5-10 minutes, far louder than it should be, no excess vibration. Hard to describe the exact noise, maybe a broken bearing.. I'm not sure. Thank you for taking a look. Chris & Teo.

Hi Chris & Teo.

Thank you for asking about your Samsung washing machine. And thank you for adding the link to the video. When these machines make a loud banging noise in the last five minutes of the spin cycle, it's often due to a common issue. The drum spider can get hairline cracks in the aluminium, causing the drum to vibrate and possibly hit the door glass. I do not think it will be the bearings. This noise I'm hearing sounds more like either a loose concrete block. Or the spider has got a hairline crack in it.

To check if it’s the spider causing the problem, you need to take apart the machine. Sometimes you can find this from inside, but it can be hard to see at high speeds. I’ve included an old video showing how to check bearings; it explains what to look for.

At the back of the drum, there are three points where the spider attaches. Hold the outer drum with one hand and the inner drum with the other while the door is open to see if there's any up or down movement. Detecting a hairline crack can be challenging, but it's a known issue with Samsung washers. This problem may be due to weak aluminium or detergent damage.

I made this video to explain the problem that happens when we wash at low temperatures. It might also be relevant to your machine. Make sure you check all the counterweights on the machine before stripping it, as one might be loose.
