Samsung WF90F5E5U4W/EU Washing Machine Not Draining
I have a Samsung WF90F5E5U4W/EU Washing Machine. I ran the test program but only the recirculating pump works. I took the drain motor out and connected it to 240v ac and the impeller rotated ok. When I measured the voltage at the pump connectors during the test cycle it was 12.7 volts ac without the pump motor in circuit. Is there another sensor or relay that’s could be faulty or is is there another controller board? I hope you can help. By the way did I spot ur van in Glenarm last week? Regards Steven
Hi Steven,
Thanks very much for getting in touch with us about your Samsung WF90F5E5U4W/EU Washing Machine.
I'm sorry we missed each other while I was in Glenarm – you should have flagged me down when I was parked on the waterfront. I'd have been happy to take a look at your machine.
Based on what you've described, if the pump is only receiving 12V and the motor tests fine on the bench, the PCB is likely at fault. Samsung circuit boards can be particularly tricky to work with because they're coated in silicone for moisture protection, which makes repairs challenging. It's also possible that one of the pump relays has failed.
Without seeing the machine in person, a full diagnosis is difficult, but here's what I'd recommend checking first:
- Inspect the wiring – Carefully examine all wires running from the PCB to the pump. A broken or loose wire – especially a neutral wire – could prevent the pump from receiving the full 240V it needs to operate.
- Look for damage – Pay close attention to any visible damage, corrosion, or loose connections along the entire wire run.
You should receive an email about this post with my direct telephone number if you need further help. I'm now back at my workshop in Wales after quite a bit of travelling recently, so feel free to get in touch if you'd like to discuss this further or need additional guidance on the repair.
