Logik L8W5D21E Washer Dryer Drum Not Spinning

Good day, Paul. I've been watching your channel for a while, and it is really interesting. And by some "casualty" of life, my washing machine stopped working, so I want to share my story with you. The machine, a Logik L8W5D21E, with a drying system included: Date of purchase: 29/01/2024 Date of failure: 27/06/2026 (5 months AFTER warranty expired) Symptoms: Drum loose/not spinning. My first thoughts were the drum belt may have come loose, or broken.... I thought, it is an easy fix.... How wrong I was. After opening the back maintenance door, I found that the motor had fallen and the belt had come loose. I was confused, but after close inspection, I realized that the motor was being held by only 3 points; the adjustment/tension point, and two more. Then I thought, yeah.... of course they broke, the motor is the part with the most stress in this machine. I thought I might be able to replace those bolts and make it work.... just to find the bolts ARE PLASTIC, AND PART OF THE WHOLE DRUM ASSEMBLY. There was no way to repair the machine; it was designed so the point of contact would withstand all the vibrations and stress and break, and there is no way to just replace the attachments as they are part of the whole assembly. As an engineer myself, I had to drill holes into the drum, fix two long screws, and right now the machine is working again. For how long??? I have no idea, but I hope the repair will last, and that I was able to save my washing machine from a totally clear programmed obsolescence design.
