Indesit IDC8T3B(UK) Condenser Tumble Dryer Needs a Bearing Kit
Hello, I have an Indesit IDC8T3B(UK) Condenser Tumble Dryer and I'm fairly sure my bearing has gone. Makes an awful screeching noice when rotating. Has done for about a year but I've ignored it. Silly me. Drum has dropped at front and worn the bearing pads away. I'm looking for the bearing kit you mention in your video from 2014 but can't see it on the website. I've found one on espares (Stock No: 3986119OH) which says not suitable for a riveted drum shaft. I've checked and mine is riveted on. I'll follow your instructions in the video and grind it off. I though I'd buy from you as your video was the most helpful. Also, in order to get the back panel off, I need to remove the motor fan but it won't come off. It seems to be held in position with one of those clips that you squeeze with pliers and it opens. I've got the clip off but the fan won't budge. There are no other fixings. The plastic on the fan has slits down either side - do I just widen the plastic by putting a flathead screwdriver in the slits and widen the gap?
Hi Miles,
Thanks for your question regarding your Indesit IDC8T3B(UK) condenser tumble dryer.
First, let's talk about the plastic fan. It's tricky to handle. You need to carefully widen where it was clamped by the spring. Be very careful not to break it. Then, put something behind it and tap it off the shaft. It's not easy because heat from the tumble dryer makes the plastic tighter on the shaft. Take your time; it does come off.
About the bearing kit, I think the shaft has cut through and here is the part for you: Creda Hotpoint Indesit Proline Swan Tumble Dryer Drum Shaft Kit C00305794
I've also included some videos below. I think you've already watched one of them, but the others might be helpful to you.
Also, replace the felt seals and pads at the front. Check for any movement in the jockey wheel. If this model has none, just inspect the tension belt. I'll find diagrams for this machine and include them below.
It's worth fixing this machine since vented and condenser tumble dryers will be banned by the end of this year, leaving only heat pump ones. There's a video about that too; decide for yourself, but please sign the petition if you agree with us.
