Hotpoint BFI 680 Dishwasher Auto Light Flashing Rapidly After Draining
Hi. I turned the mains power off by accident whilst my Hotpoint BFI 680 dishwasher was running. Since then it won't go past the drain stage. I have tried a hard reset but hasn't helped. I have filled the bottom of the washer with a few litres of water, it drains completely and then 1 beep. At this point the machine is still humming and sounds like it is running, though when you open the door nothing is happening and the only error code seems to be the auto light (4th light across from left, a circle with auto wrote underneath) is flashing. Any ideas? Thanks John
Hi John.
Thanks a lot for your question regarding the Hotpoint BFI 680 Dishwasher.
The continuous humming of the drain pump—especially since it continues while the door is open—strongly indicates the dishwasher's anti-flood system has been activated. When the power was abruptly cut mid-cycle, water likely surged or overflowed into the concealed base pan located underneath the main washing tub. You did not say how long the machine was left in the off position. As if there is any leak on the machine, this will automatically go into the base. This lifts a float switch that instantly forces the drain pump to run to prevent flooding, locking out all other functions and flashing an error code (the 4th LED on Hotpoint models is commonly tied to this sequence when the machine detects a fault or board interruption).
If the base is completely dry, the sudden power loss may have locked the pressure switch in the "full" position or caused a software glitch on the main control board.
Please check the anti-flood device first. Once you have done this, retry the machine. And come back to us. If it is still faulty. As I will need to ask further information. You will receive an email which will have my contact details on it
