Hoover HOC709/6X Oven Not Heating Up
I have Hoover HOC709/6X oven. The grill works, however when I set the oven on, the light comes on inside, and the fan comes on, but no heat at all, nothing from the top or bottom of the oven, the small thermostat light doesn't come on at all either. I've checked if its the timer switch and it's not that either. I just called in regards on the number provided but no quick fix, he mentioned some sort of switch may need replacing and to check that power may need to be tested to both filaments when the fan oven is switched on and at 100c, It's an integrated single oven, I'll need to pull the oven out to check this. Thanks
I will try and help with this problem about Hoover HOC709/6X Oven,
Hi Lewis,
Thanks for your question. I think I remember our phone call. If your grill works but the main oven doesn't, a couple of issues could be causing this.
Firstly, as I mentioned on the phone, make sure the timer is set to manual. If it's on automatic, the main oven won't turn on. Ensure there's power going from the timer to the selector switch. The timer has a relay that sends power to the selector switch, which then connects to the thermostat. If this relay is faulty or if the timer is accidentally on automatic, it will stop the oven from working.
Another possible issue could be with the selector switch. This part is number 90 in the diagram below. I've included a link to that reference number so you can get a new selector switch if needed. These switches often become faulty because people tend to turn the thermostat before adjusting the selector switch. Always choose your desired position on the selector switch before turning on the thermostat to prevent burning contacts.
You'll need to shop around for the selector switch since this is an old cooker and it might not be available from the supplier anymore. I've provided the part number below for you to search.
I'm sorry you're having this problem, but it's hard to diagnose without seeing the cooker in person. You should also test the fan oven element and base element with a multimeter to ensure they have continuity and correct ohms readings.
Unfortunately, you'll need to pull out the oven to test it properly. I hope this helps, and I've added some additional videos below to assist you with your repair.
Best of luck!
