Hi Paul, I have a Hoover DXOC 58C3B 1-80 Washing Machine. The pulley wheel making a creaking noise. What do you suggest what should I do?

Hoover washing machines can have either an aluminium or a plastic pulley wheel on the back. Both types can become loose if not enough Loctite was used on the stud holding the wheel. The wheel might also have a hairline crack, so check for any signs of damage.

The shaft that fits into the wheel could also be loose. To check, remove the pulley wheel. This is straightforward:

  1. Take off the back of the machine.
  2. Remove the belt.
  3. Undo the bolt and take off the pulley wheel.

When reassembling, apply Loctite to the stud to prevent future loosening. This simple fix often resolves cracking noises and restores smooth operation.
