Electrolux WE170P Washing Machine Drum Is Leaking When It Starts Turning

Identifying where water is leaking from your Electrolux WE170P washing machine drum can be challenging, but there are several practical methods you can try to pinpoint the source.

Visual Inspection with a Torch

If possible, run the machine with the side panel or back removed. Use a torch to carefully inspect the drum area while it's operating. This direct line of sight often reveals exactly where water is escaping.

The Newspaper Test

Place a piece of newspaper underneath the machine while it runs. Water will mark the paper, showing you roughly where the leak originates. While not always 100% accurate, this method points you in the right direction and is quick to set up.

The Rapid Disassembly Method

Run the machine for just a short period, then stop it and empty the drum. Quickly dismantle the machine afterwards and look for water tracks inside. The wet residue will show you the path the water has taken, helping you locate the breach.

Repairing Plastic Drums

If your Electrolux has a plastic drum, repairs are often straightforward. A soldering iron combined with appropriate adhesive can seal small cracks and holes effectively. This method has proven successful in many cases, though the exact repair approach depends on the leak's location and size.
