Candy CSV V9LG-80 Tumble Dryer Shuts Off After A Short While
Have Candy CSV V9LG-80 tumble dryer. It runs for a few mins, then stops. The machine beeps 3 times and all led lights flash 21 times then 2 second pause then flash 21 times again etc etc.. Also (worryingly) the heater element remains energized and a hot smell comes from the machine even when the control knob is switched to off. Only opening the door or unplugging the unit shuts off the elements. I have tested continuity on the thermostats (2 on element and one on front by lint trap) and all have continuity. Can you offer any suggestions? Many thanks, Kevin
I will try and help with this problem about Candy CSV V9LG-80 Tumble Dryer,
Good morning, Kevin.
From your description, it seems the motor is shutting down during the cycle. I must remind you that I'm only going by what you've typed, as I don't have the machine in front of me. Since the heater stays on, it suggests the motor has stopped turning. You should check the motor and test the capacitor. For some reason, the motor stops but continues to heat.
The motor controls both fans: the circulation fan and the cooling fan, which blows air over the condenser. If the motor isn't turning, both fans would stop running automatically, yet the heater would remain on. I've included a wiring diagram and workshop manual below to help you. There are also some helpful videos included.
If you're not confident with electrics, I suggest calling an engineer because a heater staying on without airflow is dangerous. This could be causing the burning smell you notice. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful online, but it's tough to pinpoint the problem without seeing the machine.
Also, check the printed circuit board and wiring for any damage signs. At the bottom of the page, there's a full list of parts for this machine with exploded diagrams and reference numbers to help you get any components you need.
All the best,
Paul
