Bosch WAK28160GB/03 Washing Machine Washes & Pumps Out But Won't Spin Up to Speed
I have a Bosch WAK28160GB/03 Washing Machine. Fault was initially intermittent. Occasional washes would finish dripping wet but after a few attempts at rerunning the spin cycle it would work. Now fault occurs every wash, rinse or spin. During spin phase the drum turns well and distributes the clothes around the drum but the machine repeatedly (shown four times in the linked video but occurs many more times) fails to spin properly, instead it finishes with the clothes still wet. No error code is reported. Carbon motor brushes were replaced a few months ago.
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WAK28160GB/03 Washing Machine.
Also, thanks for sending the information and uploading the video to YouTube. It was very helpful. I have also included some exploded diagrams and a video showing how to check the motor.
As you recently replaced the carbon brushes, I am almost certain this is the problem. On Bosch motors, old brushes can become very hot as they wear down. This can slightly warp the brush holders. When new brushes are fitted, they may then stick in the holders.
Please remove the motor again and take out the carbon brushes. One brush may look burnt at the tip because it is sticking.
Make sure both brushes slide freely in and out of their holders. Clean the holders well. If needed, use very fine sandpaper to gently remove a tiny amount from the brush, but do not take off too much.
Hopefully, this has not damaged the circuit board. Once the brushes move freely, it should fix the fault.
You did not include a telephone number, and I apologise for the late reply. I have been travelling around Ireland and the UK visiting engineers.
I will add the carbon brush video for you. Good luck with the repair.
