Bosch SMS4HAW40G Dishwasher App Water Detected & E61 Error
Hi I have a Bosch SMS4HAW40G and it’s saying on the app water detected and machine has stop , I understand the workings of the hose and as in a plumber that hose can’t be the problem because if the hose was split it would stop straight away , this seems to be at the end of a program possibly with 5 or ten minutes left on the cycle , it says e61 I think in the display , I reboot the machine and it’s still there , but if I unplug the machine pull it out and raise the back it clears itself , would appreciate any advice ty
I will try and help with this problem about Bosch SMS4HAW40G Dishwasher,
Hi, sorry to hear about the problem with your dishwasher. The E61 error usually means the machine can't empty in the given time. The old Error code for this was fault E25 on older Bosch dishwashers. Sometimes, small items get stuck in the Bosch dishwasher pump, causing an intermittent problem. It's puzzling that tilting the machine clears it. There might be leaks into the bottom of the machine, triggering the anti-flood device.
First, let's check for leaks before looking at the pump. In the diagrams below, 0615 and 0616 show the anti-flood device at the bottom of the machine. If water gets into the base, this float rises and triggers a switch, causing an error code. However, E61 indicates a pump problem, meaning it can't empty in time.
In the diagram, 0455 is the pump attached to the sump base. I've made a video which I'll link here. Lift a small catch to hoover out any debris. Check the impeller closely; anything caught there can cause it not to empty properly. Also, some hoses go from this sump to the back of the machine and can clog with dirt.
Try these simple repairs first. You might also test by running the waste hose into a bucket to see water flow. It usually pumps out for 5-10 seconds, stops, then re-pumps. This lets water drain while pumping, so don't worry if it seems to stop early; it will start and stop several times.
