Bosch KIV85VS30G/02 Fridge Freezer Complete Loss of Cooling

Thank you for getting in touch about your Bosch KIV85VS30G/02 fridge freezer. Diagnosing cooling faults without a visual inspection can be challenging, but we can work through the most common causes together.

Check if the compressor is running

Start by plugging in the appliance and listening carefully. Place a screwdriver against the casing of the fridge freezer compressor — if the compressor is working, you'll feel vibration and hear the motor running. This is your first checkpoint.

Is the freezer reaching the correct temperature?

If the compressor is running, check whether the freezer compartment is getting cold. It should reach around -20°C or below. If it's not reaching this temperature, the issue may be:

• The refrigerant gas is low
• The compressor is weak or faulty

Understanding the cooling circuit

Your fridge freezer works by having the freezer compartment produce the cold air. A fan then circulates this cold air to the fridge section. If cooling was working fine for the first few days but has now stopped, the defrost system may be faulty. This system runs automatically once a day for 15 to 20 minutes to clear ice buildup from the evaporator coil.
