Beko XDC663SM Cooker Oven Control Knob Has Become Really Stiff

November 05, 2024
Customer Question

The temperature control knob on my BEKO XDC663SM cooker has become really stiff, and it’s hard to adjust the heat level precisely. Sometimes, when I try to turn it,. Another knob feels a bit loose and wobbly. This makes it tricky to cook at the right temperature, which is frustrating. Can these knobs be tightened or replaced?

I will try and help with this problem about Beko XDC663SM Cooker Oven,

Hi Peter,

Sorry to hear about the problem with your cooker. I'm currently away visiting manufacturers around Europe who make parts for cookers and washing machines.

Regarding your stiff control knob, you didn't specify which one it is. If it's the oven thermostat, it might be faulty and need replacing. There's no way to adjust it. If the thermostat is loose, you might have lost the small piece of steel that fits into the plastic knob when cleaning. This would make it very loose and could break the plastic. It's easier to replace the control knob than to repair it, though it can be time-consuming.

Your cooker has four thermostats, but I'm concerned about some data from Beko. The cooker looks like it has a ceramic hob, but the parts list shows gas components. It might have either a gas or ceramic top. If it's gas, a stiff knob could be a control valve issue. If it's ceramic, it could be a thermostat for the heater plates or an oven thermostat.

I've included the wiring diagram, exploded diagrams of all components, and the service book. These will help you disassemble the machine and test each part. Whether you need help with the bottom oven, top oven, or heating plates, all the information is here.

If you need further assistance, feel free to contact us. Since I'm working remotely, it may take up to 48 hours for me to respond.

All the best,
Paul
