Beko WTB741R2W Washing Machine Keeps Tripping The Electric
Good mornig. I bought this Beko WTB741R2W washing machine in 2017. 2 years ago, I replaced the heating element, it worked fine until 2 weeks ago when it started tripping again. I removed the heating element but it looks fine to me. So I don't know what's wrong this time.
I will try and help with this problem about Beko WTB741R2W Washing Machine,
Good morning, Mary. Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear about the problem with your Beko washing machine. It's impressive that it's nearing eight years old, especially in today's world where machines don't usually last this long.
You mentioned replacing the heating element two years ago and now it's tripping the electricity again. This could be due to a component going to earth. I'll explain what to look for, even if you're not technically minded.
It's possible the heating element has failed again. It might not look damaged but could be exceeding the milliamp standards on your consumer board. To test it properly, you'd need an insulation tester, also known as a mega. These are expensive and typically only owned by electricians, costing upwards of £400.
To test safely, isolate and insulate the two wires going to the heating element and run a wash cycle. If it doesn't trip the electricity, the element may be faulty, though I can't guarantee that's the only issue.
Other components that might go to earth include the motor. Worn motor carbon brushes can cause tracking to earth, tripping the electricity supply—this is common. The washing machine pump usually wouldn't trip the supply as it's fully insulated.
A chaffed or damaged wire touching the chassis or an issue with an electrical component like the printed circuit board or suppressor can also cause this problem.
There are many reasons a washing machine might trip the electricity supply. I've obtained the workshop manual, wiring diagram, and exploded views of your machine with reference numbers for each component. These links are clickable if you need a part.
I hope this information helps you repair your machine. If I had to guess, I'd suggest either the motor or heating element is at fault, but without seeing it, I can't be certain. It's worth trying to repair it if it was running quietly without other issues.
Have a great day!
