Beko WM5101W Washing Machine Won’t Complete Any Wash Program

December 26, 2024
Customer Question

Beko WM5101W washing machine will fill, turn drum in both directions, heat water then continue to turn one way for 10 seconds (approx), pause for ten seconds, then turn the other way for ten seconds for as long as I care to let it. Up to 20 minutes before I give up waiting for a drain and refill, and press and hold 'Cancel'. The machine immediately stops, runs the pump to empty the suds and lights 'Spin/End'. Can you advise, please, why the machine will not follow through any wash program, and what a solution may be?With thanks.( I found you on YouTube and am a subscriber)(

I will try and help with this problem about Beko WM5101W Washing Machine,

Hi Philip,

Thank you for your question about your BM5101W washing machine and for the detailed description of the problem. There are a few things that could be causing this issue. I’ve got the workshop manual for you. It's not the best, but it has useful information, including the wiring diagram and exploded views of your machine.

First, if the machine fills to the correct water level but then just turns from one direction to the other, check the heating circuit. If the heating element is open circuit, it won't reach temperature, causing the machine to keep turning because it hasn't detected the heating system. This could be due to an open circuit in the element or a fault with the NTC sensor. You can find information on these in the workshop manual.

Also, if the machine can't empty in time, that could be a problem. But since you said it empties perfectly when set to empty, that's likely not the issue. Another thing to test is making sure each water valve has the correct ohms reading. A faulty water valve can stop the machine from continuing its program.

Additionally, check for broken wires. Test each wire going to each component to ensure there’s no breakage inside due to metal fatigue or other issues. Any undetected component can also halt the machine's progress.

If none of these faults are present, there might be a problem with the circuit board. Check all connections and visually inspect the board for any blown components. I have videos on our YouTube channel about intermittent electrical faults that might help.

Since your machine is about 10 years old or more, consider looking on eBay or Facebook Marketplace for parts. You might find machines with faulty motors or bearings being sold cheaply (£10-£20), and you could get second-hand circuit boards from sellers who guarantee them.

I’ve included an exploded diagram at the bottom of this page showing all parts of your machine with reference numbers and a full list of spare parts with genuine part numbers.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for subscribing to our YouTube channel; we appreciate it greatly. Sharing it with family and friends helps us grow. I hope you had a good Christmas—I came into the workshop on Boxing Day to catch up on repairs and questions sent in over Christmas.

Good luck with your repair!
