Beko WI1573 Washing Machine Clicks & Trips Electrics
I have Beko WI1573 washing machine. Removed drive belt and established that click was from motor. I will also need associated pcb for motor, but your website doesn't recognise model number for pcb.
I will try and help with this problem about Beko WI1573 Washing Machine,
It sounds like you're dealing with a common issue on Beko WL1573 washing machines: a clicking motor. This usually points to a problem with the motor's armature, specifically with the carbon brushes.
Here's a breakdown of what's likely happening:
- Worn Carbon Brushes: The carbon brushes, which transmit electrical current to the motor, wear down over time.
- Armature Damage: Worn brushes can cause excessive heat and damage the armature (the rotating part of the motor) and the commutator (the part the brushes contact). This can lead to "rising lugs" – raised segments on the armature that cut into the brushes and cause further damage.
- Clicking Sound: The clicking sound you hear is likely the damaged armature lugs hitting the carbon brushes.
Troubleshooting and Repair
-
Safety First: Always disconnect the washing machine from the power supply before attempting any repairs.
-
Inspect the Motor: Since you've already removed the belt, take a close look at the motor. You might be able to see the worn carbon brushes or damage to the commutator.
-
Check the Wiring Diagram: The wiring diagram I've provided will help you identify the motor and its connections.
-
Consider Your Options:
- Replace the Motor: If the armature is damaged, replacing the motor is often the most reliable solution.
- Replace the Carbon Brushes: If the brushes are the only issue, replacing them might be enough. However, if the armature is damaged, new brushes won't solve the underlying problem.
-
Finding Parts:
- Genuine Parts: Use the exploded views and part numbers to identify the correct replacements.
- Second-hand Parts: Consider searching eBay or Facebook Marketplace for used motors or circuit boards. You might find a good deal on a part from a machine with a different fault.
Important Notes
- Don't Delay Repairs: Ignoring worn carbon brushes can lead to more serious and expensive motor damage.
- Electrical Safety: A damaged armature can cause electrical shorts and trip the RCD (Residual Current Device) on your consumer unit. This is a safety feature designed to protect you from electric shock.
I hope this information helps you get your Beko WL1573 washing machine back in working order. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
All the best,
Paul
