Beko OIE22101X Single Oven Has No Heat in the Oven

Customer Question

Hello,My Beko OIE22101X oven won't heat up! When the selector dial is on any one selection, none of the elements heat up, although the fan does run. In addition to the elements not running, the red preheat light does not turn on. It will occasionally flicker between selections, but not stay on (which means the heat was on when changing selections, which I now know not to do!!) I noticed an issue several days ago when I set the oven to preheat and heard the fan running, but then oven didn't heat. I fiddled with the selector dial and the oven turned on as usual. The oven was used yesterday with no issue, but then today, wasn't working and I could do nothing to get it to work on any setting. My initial thinking was that it's the selector switch given the way it failed. However, when I pulled the oven apart I saw a fried wire at the connection to the thermal switch. I wasn't able to find any how-to videos for that. Could that possibly be the problem, and if it is, how do I test/confirm that's the issue? If it's not that, given how it failed, would you be inclined to say it's likely the selector switch, and if it is, is there any easier way to confirm that without going through the full process of disconnecting the piece and testing each connection? Thanks so much for any assistance in advance!Rhianna

I will try and help with this problem about Beko OIE22101X Single Oven,

Hi Rhianna sorry to hear about your problem with Beko OIE22101X oven. The OIE version has a selector switch and that sounds like a common fault where the switch isn’t sending either live or neutral to the circuit on the element. There are a couple of thermal cutouts inside the cooker. want to check the schematics.

You are experiencing a flicker between sections of lights, which is usually a clear sign that the selector switch has failed. The contacts are not engaging properly. Luckily, we have spare parts from Gottak which is a major selector switch company from Spain. They offer some replacements for these and you can buy the Gottak selector switch from this link.

When using a selector switch, you must always turn the thermostat off before changing the switch position. This allows you to select the required program first, then turn the thermostat on. Doing it this way prevents damage to the selector switch. If you change the selector switch position while the thermostat is still on, it causes sparking and arcing on the contacts, which leads to failure over time.

I have added all related videos, wiring diagram, workshop manual and exploded view of the parts to help you with any repairs. You can find these below.
