Also, thanks for giving me your phone number so we could chat. I was surprised when you told me the heater had been on all night. The safety cutout should have turned it off to prevent fires.

I don't understand how the tumble dryer was turning the heater on when it was supposed to be off. You likely have a problem with the circuit board, maybe a jammed relay. Even if the relay was stuck, the thermostat should have stopped the heating element.

As you mentioned, the machine's relay was only 10 amps, which is quite low for a heating system that usually draws around 2000 watts (about 8 amps).

By the way, there is a useful test meter linked at the top of the page. It lets you see exactly when components like heaters are cutting in and out by showing you the actual wattage being drawn.
