Beko BM3WT3841W Washing Machine Won’t Reach 1400 Spin

Customer Question

Hi, I saw your video on YouTube of the Beko WTK models. I have a new BM3W3841W only 3 weeks old. My wife put in about 5kg of towels for a wash. At the end, the machine never reached its 1400rpm, only some minimal speed which meant she had to spin the towels separately to get the wet out.As we have had the machine for less than 30 days I have told the supplier, AO, to take it back under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However I would like to reinforce my position by looking for codes. I tried the method you suggest but it didn’t work on this model. It would be very useful if I could get a list of codes and other technical information to bolster my case as I am already receiving resistance from them. I need to be ready to refute attempts to object to my concerns.RegardsEdward Spear

I will try and help with this problem about Beko BM3WT3841W Washing Machine,

Dear Edward,

Thank you for reaching out to us about the difficulties you're experiencing with your Beko washing machine. I understand how frustrating it can be when a household appliance doesn't perform as expected, especially a crucial one like a washing machine.

I empathize with your disappointment regarding the build quality of modern appliances. It's a concern that many share, and it was quite apparent during recent industry events like IFA Berlin that manufacturers seem to be prioritizing cost-cutting measures over long-term durability. Planned obsolescence, unfortunately, appears to be a prevalent strategy.

While I can't offer legal advice or intervene in disputes, I'm here to provide you with technical information and support to help you better understand your washing machine and potentially troubleshoot the spinning issue. I managed to get a lot of information off a colleague  who works on Beko machines he gave me the workshop manual and some Wiring diagrams on this model.

To clarify, AO acts as a distributor for Beko appliances, while Beko is the manufacturer. If a fault arises, it's advisable to contact both AO and Beko. AO, as the distributor, should ideally relay any recurring or significant issues to Beko to help them improve product quality and address potential design flaws.

Regarding the spinning problem, washing machines often struggle with bulky items like towels. Their absorbent nature means they become very heavy when wet, and their irregular shape can make it challenging to distribute them evenly in the drum. Modern washing machines have sensors that detect load imbalances. If the towels aren't balanced, these sensors will prevent the machine from spinning at high speeds to avoid excessive vibrations and potential damage to the motor or other components.

Without specific details about your towels and how you loaded them, it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. However, to assist you further, I've included the following resources:

  • Workshop Manual: This comprehensive guide provides detailed technical information about your washing machine's inner workings.
  • Wiring Diagram: This visual representation of the electrical connections within the machine can be helpful for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Component Overview: This resource offers a clear view of all the parts within your washing machine, making it easier to identify specific components.
  • Parts List: This list can be valuable if you need to replace any parts in the future.
  • Instructional Videos: I've included a selection of videos related to your washing machine model, covering various aspects of operation and maintenance.

To diagnose the issue, I recommend running a test cycle with a full load of regular clothes on a standard wash program. This will help determine if the spinning problem is specific to towels or a broader issue with the machine.

Additionally, please ensure the washing machine is correctly connected to the waste pipe and that there are no kinks or blockages. If water cannot drain efficiently, the machine won't spin, as the pressure sensor will detect the excess water and halt the cycle for safety.

I hope this information proves helpful. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or require additional assistance.

Best regards,

Paul
