Beko BBIS13400XC Oven Not Working On Fan Mode

July 12, 2024
Customer Question

My Beko BBIS13400XC oven is not working on fan mode. I think it was bought from Currys and it's not that old as I've only just moved into the house When I use the grill the oven heats up perfectly but when I switch to the fan oven mode there is no heat. The light is on and I can hear the fan running but the oven doesn't get hot. It's really annoying because I use the fan mode for most of my cooking.Checked the settings multiple times to make sure I'm selecting the right mode. As I said the grill element and base element functions work fine so I’m not sure what’s going wrong with the fan mode. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I will try and help with this problem about Beko BBIS13400XC Oven,

Hi Jones, sorry to hear about the problem you have with your Beko BBIS13400XC Oven.

I've included exploded diagrams, user manual, and related videos on fan oven element faults with Beko ovens below that might help you.

Modern cookers like your Beko BB1S143400XC can be a bit tricky to diagnose. This oven is controlled by a computer circuit board and uses NTC sensors to detect the temperature, unlike older models with selector switches and thermostats.

I’ve made a detailed video on this topic, which you can find below. There are two videos that you should watch; one is for a different model but the process is the same. Your oven looks about 8 to 10 months old, so it might still be under guarantee. Try to get the receipt from the house owner or landlord.

If the oven isn’t heating but the fan motor is running and the light is on, you should check for 240 volts to the heating element. You can do this with a multimeter, but you'll need to take the cooker out of its place and be competent with electrics. I have many videos on my website that show how to test fan oven elements, grill elements, and base elements. If you don't have a multimeter you can buy a new one via our affiliate link.

The issue might be with the fan oven element or possibly the electronic circuit board or sensors. To help you, I've obtained the full workshop manual for your machine, which includes testing instructions, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic checks. The manual is over 100 pages long, so take your time with it.

First, check the fan oven element to see if it needs replacing. I’ve also linked to the heating element for your model and included exploded diagrams with part numbers and links to genuine parts.

I hope this helps you repair your cooker. There is also a service manual that explains each fault or error in detail. It covers how to test and access each component.

I made the video below to assist people with modern cookers that can have fan oven problems. It might not be on a Beko, but I will be making one and it will explain the all problems with fan oven elements.

How to diagnose faults with modern circuit board cookers

How to test an inspect a fan oven element on modern cookers

In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;

  1. Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
  2. Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
  3. Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
  4. Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
  5. Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.

Common Problems with Electrical Ovens

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
