Customer Question

The glass on my Beko BBIS13400XC oven door has cracked. I’m not sure how it happened, but I’m worried it might shatter or affect the oven’s performance. Can this be fixed, or do I need to replace the whole door?

I will try and help with this problem about Beko BBIS13400XC Oven,

Hi Bella, sorry to hear about the cracked glass on your Beko BBIS13400XC oven door. Glass cracking can be concerning, but it's a problem that can typically be solved without needing to replace the entire oven door. I've included exploded diagrams, common problems with electrical ovens, and related videos on door glass issues with Beko BBIS13400XC ovens below that might help you.

The glass on oven doors is designed to withstand high temperatures, but it can still crack due to sudden temperature changes, impact, or manufacturing defects. When the glass is cracked, it's important to address it promptly because the crack can spread, leading to potential safety hazards and affecting the oven's insulation and performance.

The easiest way to address this problem is to replace the glass panel. Luckily, most oven doors are made such that the glass can be changed separately from the door as a whole. Remember, before doing any work, please make sure the oven is completely cool and unplugged from the power source to avoid any electrical hazards.

You will start by checking your user manual (listed below) or the oven model details to identify the type of glass and whether it’s the inner or outer panel that needs replacing.

Then, you can usually order a replacement glass panel directly from Beko or a reputable appliance parts supplier. Ensure you have the correct model number and part number to get the right piece.

If you’re comfortable with DIY repairs, you can carefully remove the door from the oven, disassemble it, and replace the glass panel. Typically, this involves unscrewing the door frame and carefully swapping out the old glass for the new one. I will be dropping related videos for you to understand how easily you can change the door glass below.

Replacing the glass is generally more cost-effective than replacing the entire door and certainly more economical than replacing the entire oven. Once the glass is replaced, your oven should function just as it did before, without any risk of shattering or performance issues.

I've included exploded diagrams and videos on how to check and remove the parts from Beko BBIS13400XC oven that might help you. All part numbers and exploded diagrams are listed below. If you need more help, feel free to contact me.

In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;

  1. Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
  2. Oven won't heat because timer on manual.
  3. Oven won't heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
  4. Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
  5. Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.

Common Problems with Electrical Ovens

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
