Beko B5T4923RW Heat Pump Tumble Dryer Not Drying Taking a Long Time
I have a Beko B5T4923RW Heat Pump Tumble Dryer. No error codes, taking forever to complete a cycle, i.e wet towels and no water pumped to top tank. I did try blowing out the finned evaporator area with my garden leaf blower and using a hand pumped garden water sprayer , i did this twice and entered the service mode to activate the pump, there was fluff residue in the tank. the twin lint filter has been cleaned after every use. the machine is only 2 years old!
Hi Ray,
Sorry to hear about your problem with the Beko B5T4923RW Heat Pump Tumble Dryer. I have collected some information for you.
First, check if the compressor is running and cycling gas through the evaporator and condenser. Blockages in these parts could be causing the issue. Heat pump dryers are complicated to service and require dismantling the entire machine.
Please look at the documentation I made for you. Check if the compressor is running, if there is gas in the system, or if there's an airflow problem. It could also be a faulty sensor not starting the compressor.
You need to examine the whole system to diagnose the problem accurately. The information you gave me didn’t specify if key components were working; it only described the fault.
If you need more help, feel free to contact me. I've replied via email and you have my phone number. I'm also happy to have a WhatsApp call to help diagnose the machine's problem.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your Beko B5T4923RW tumble dryer. We understand how frustrating it can be when drying cycles take longer than expected. Below is a detailed diagnostic guide to help identify the underlying cause.
Understanding Heat Pump Dryer Operation
The Beko B5T4923RW is a heat pump condensation dryer, which operates differently from conventional vented or condenser models. Rather than generating heat directly, heat pump dryers extract warmth from the air inside the drum and recycle it to dry clothes more efficiently. This system relies on several interconnected components working in harmony.
Primary Causes of Extended Drying Times
Compressor Function
The compressor is the heart of your heat pump system. If it is not running or cycling properly, the refrigerant cannot circulate through the evaporator and condenser coils. Listen for a humming or clicking sound during operation—this indicates the compressor is active. If you hear nothing, the compressor may have failed or the system may lack sufficient refrigerant charge.
Refrigerant System Blockages
Blockages within the evaporator or condenser can severely restrict gas flow and heat transfer efficiency. These blockages may result from ice formation, debris accumulation, or manufacturing defects. A blocked system will cause the dryer to run longer whilst producing minimal heat.
Airflow Obstruction
Check the lint filter, condenser unit, and air pathways for blockages. A clogged lint filter is the most common cause of poor drying performance. Remove and clean the filter thoroughly before each load. Additionally, inspect the condenser for lint buildup—this requires partial disassembly of the machine.
Faulty Temperature or Moisture Sensors
Heat pump dryers rely on sensors to detect when clothes are dry and to regulate compressor cycling. A defective sensor may prevent the compressor from starting or cause it to cycle inefficiently, resulting in extended drying times or incomplete drying.
Diagnostic Steps
To accurately diagnose the issue, you will need to verify the following:
- Confirm the compressor is running during the drying cycle
- Check that refrigerant is circulating (the condenser should feel warm)
- Inspect all air filters and pathways for blockages
- Test sensor responsiveness if you have technical experience
Heat pump dryers are complex systems that often require full disassembly for thorough inspection. If you are not confident performing these checks, we recommend consulting a qualified technician who can safely diagnose and repair the unit.
