Understanding the Problem of Beko Tumble Dryer

When your tumble dryer is not heating, it's crucial first to understand what's happening. Many people have smart meters in their homes, which allow them to see the amount of electricity being drawn when the tumble dryer is turned on (if you don't have one, you can buy via our affiliate link). This can give a good indication of whether your tumble dryer is working as it should.

For instance, when you turn the tumble dryer to a high heat setting and start it, you should see the amount of electricity drawn on your meter. If the heater was functioning correctly, you should see somewhere between 2 and 2.5 kilowatts, equating to about eight to nine amps. If only the motor is drawing power (approximately 162 watts), it suggests that there's a fault with the heater or one of the thermostats.

Investigating the Heating System & Testing the Thermostats

To examine the heating system, remove the back panel. Always ensure you clean the system's fluff and lint buildup, particularly in the vent tubes and front of the filter.

To test the machine, you'll need a multimeter. Set it to continuity and ohms, and check each thermostat. According to the user manual of Beko tumble dryer, the left-hand thermostat is a cycling thermostat. This thermostat disconnects the heater once the desired temperature is reached. You can test it for continuity to ensure it is in good working condition.

We suggest you watch our video to understand the working principle of a multimeter and how to use it when checking continuity.

Furthermore, the right-hand thermostat is a cutout thermostat. If there is no continuity reading, look for a small button on the end of the thermostat. Some thermostats will have a little hole where you need to put a pin in. Press this button. If you hear a click, that means the thermostat has been reset and is now working correctly.

In this case, in the video, resetting the cutout thermostat solved the problem. However, if the thermostat keeps clicking out, it usually indicates a problem with the machine's airflow.

After identifying and addressing the issue, turn the machine around and clean through the ducting system thoroughly. Then, put the machine on test. That should solve the problem.

Although our aim is to guide you through the cleaning of the Beko vented tumble dryer's filter to assist with heating issues in this guide, we would recommend you watch the whole video to learn each step in detail.
