How to Diagnose and Repair Zanussi, AEG, and Electrolux Washers and Dryers (2008 Models)

Welcome to our repair guide. In this tutorial, we will walk you through diagnosing and repairing Zanussi, AEG, and Electrolux machines, specifically those manufactured around 2008 using the ENV06 program system. If your machine's control panel resembles the one shown in the picture, this guide is likely applicable.

We tried to be concise and give brief information on this guide, so we would recommend you watch our video since we're showing you how easily you can clear the error codes from Zanussi washing machines or any other Electrolux group washing machines.

Additionally, you can visit our web store to buy genuine spare parts: https://shop.how-to-repair.com/collections/washing-machine-parts

Before proceeding with the repair, please be aware of the following safety precautions:

  1. Never run the diagnostic mode with items in the drum.
  2. Always remain near the machine while it is in diagnostic mode to monitor and control it if needed.
  3. Functions one, two, and three will fill the drum to the top of the glass, so only test the water valves briefly to confirm functionality.
  4. The heater setting will fill the machine above the minimum level required for the heating system to engage.

Error Code Identification and Clearing

If your machine displays an error after a wash cycle, it will usually show on the control panel or through flashing lights. Follow these steps to identify and clear error codes:

  1. Identifying the Error Code:
    • Turn the dial to position 10 (counted from the off position).
    • Press the start/pause and extra rinse buttons simultaneously.
    • The machine will display the error code, such as E41, and flash corresponding lights (four red and one green in this example).
  2. Clearing the Error Code:
    • Shut the door and turn the dial to position one while holding the start/pause and extra rinse buttons.
    • This will enter diagnostic mode, displaying all lights and symbols to ensure functionality.
    • Turn the dial to position 10 again to show the error code.
    • Press the start/pause and extra rinse buttons to clear the error code, which will then display as E0000.
    • Turn the machine off and then on again to reset.

Diagnostic Mode

Diagnostic mode allows you to test all the individual components of the machine. However, it is important to note that this specific diagnostic system only applies to the model shown in this guide, and it may work on other models with similar circuit boards and software.

The first three positions in the diagnostic mode are used for testing the water valves. Position four tests the circulation pump and the heating system. Positions seven and eight test the drum and motor functionality. Position nine is used to test the drying function of the machine, the door interlock, and the fan. Finally, position ten shows the last recorded error code.

To enter the diagnostic mode and test individual components:

  1. Enter Diagnostic Mode:
    • Press the start/pause and extra rinse buttons together and turn the dial to position one.
  2. Test Functions:
    • Position 1: Check all LEDs and LCD symbols for functionality.
    • Position 2: Activate the door interlock and begin filling the drum for the wash cycle.
    • Position 3: Test the pre-wash water valve and monitor the water level.
    • Position 4: Activate all water valves simultaneously.
    • Position 5: Check the heating system and circulation pump, ensuring the temperature rises appropriately.
    • Position 6: Monitor the temperature as it continues to rise.
    • Position 7: Rotate the drum clockwise at 55 RPM and counterclockwise at 250 RPM to check for leaks.
    • Position 8: Empty the machine and spin at 650 RPM, then accelerate to the maximum spin speed.
    • Position 9: (If applicable) Test the dryer functions, including the heating element and air circulation.
    • Position 10: Review the last stored error code, if any.

Model Number and PNC Number

To provide accurate assistance, please locate your machine's model and PNC number. Open the door and find the ID plate. Note the model number and the PNC number, which begins with a 9 and includes a forward slash (e.g., 914904921/01).

Please remember that the whole video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.
